http://www.rotorburn.com/forums/showthr ... sie!/page3First I would like to say the rim survived with only a few small scratches, they are quite strong. I used it the following weekend in Houffalize, Belgium, this was the next round of the World Cup Series. At this race I managed to keep the tyre on the rim. Much to my sponsors delight.
Brendan is right the tyre stayed inflated, I had rolled the tyre partly off the rim about 300 mm of the was hanging off (still inflated ) this made it unrideable. I had to stop, I tried getting it back on with no luck, next I remove the wheel peel the rest of the tyre off the rim, then got going again. I had ridden it about 1 km before this photo was taken. The tech zone was at the bottom of this drop were I put in my spare wheel.
The tyre system is quite new to MTB it is call a Tubular tyres/rims, not Tubeless some may know them as singles this is the track or road name for this system.
I was using the Tubular as they are light and have great traction and grip, the tyres are normally glued onto the rim, however I was trying a rim strip which is a double sided tape arrangement. I am going back to using Glue!
Unlucky for me the rim strip wasn’t glued on properly (this was my fault should have checked it). During the first lap on a Crazy roll over into a berm I tried a pass on one of those slow Euroes. I jammed an inside line and applied to much side load and off peeled part of the tyre .
The reason I kept the tyre was being a new light weight system the tyres aren’t exactly Cheap. I didn’t wont my almost new tyre going home with someone else as a nice souvenir. The section where the photo was taken was called Wolfs Drop. this was a 6m steep chute thingy through the trees over rock and roots. The B line was not an option as the crowd was lining the tape and blocking that path. I guess that’s why someone got a photos. Thanks to the person who took the photo or who ever found it.
If any are interested in the tubular system have a look at the online shop http://www.kirraweecycles.com.au/
And remember the glue is the best way to keep the tyres on!

Op deze manier, met wat forsere apparatuur, maken ze trouwens ook moving shots voor autobrochures.

Ik denk by the way wel dat je nek wel wat moet kunnen verduren, ook al is het 200 gram die een meter van je hoofd af hangt..
