De titel mag duidelijk zijn waar het probleem over gaat. Ik heb een tune trapas gemonteerd met tune cranks. De cranks zijn geen probleem, kraakvrij. De trapas echter is een beetje een nachtmerrie.
De rechtse cup van die trapas (driveside), trek je gewoon strak tegen het frame, met de flens die er op zit.
De linkse cup daarentegen is een cup zonder flens waar je ook het lager mee afsteld. dus die draai je je frame in totdat hij tegen het lager zit, en dan stel je hem er ook meteen mee af, dus zodat je lager nog lekker loopt.
Vind dit alleen een vreemde oplossing, die linkse cup zit in feite los in je frame zo want hij zit niet strak tegen het lager, en omdat er geen flens opzit zit hij ook niet strak tegen het frame. Dat ding kan dus eigenlijk bewegen en kraakt na een weekje fietsen als een gek. en dan niet een beetje kraken maar echt een harde kraak die je zelfs voelt in je pedaal tijdens het fietsen, hij doet het ook alleen als je met links trapt als je de linkse kant uitklikt en verder fietst met alleen je rechtse been doet hij niks, andersom wel...
Niet zoals het hoort dus, nou heb ik hem al gemonteerd met shimano locknot montagepasta, en een keer met RSP Bluegrease montagepasta (normaal erggg goed, speciaal voor titanium en aluminium). Maar hij kraakt dus nog steeds...
Ik heb iemand gehoord die monteerde hem met brunox... een soort van wd40 achtig goedje. Maar dit lijkt me een beetje vreemd want dat spul is natuurlijk zo weg en het is ook niet echt een goed middel om tussen je aluminium te proppen ofzo... het is er niet voor gemaakt zeg maar, maar het werkte wel...
Weet iemand nog een nuttige oplossing voor dit probleem om het een en ander een beetje kraakvrij te krijgen voor enkele maanden?

Kraken Tune AC38 bracket

Heb na lang wachten ook eindelijk het AC38 lager gekregen en gemonteerd. Ergens heb ik deze manual gevonden:

Check the threads in the frame: are they cleanly tapped, free of
chipping and sand and rustless?
Grease the notch between bearings and shell casing. [the shell between
the bearings, not the frame shell]
Apply grease on the inside of both thread cups (thus the bearings slide
in easier, thereby a grease "bulge" arises, which acts as an additional
sealing and eases a removal in the future)
Insert the Nilos sealings (the thin cambered metal discs) into the
thread cups, then grease the Nilos sealings and the inside of the shells
again.
Do not (re-)use bent Nilos sealings!
Grease the threads of the frame bottom bracket shell.
Apply grease on the right bottom bracket thread cup (that's the one with
the collar) and thread it firmly into the frame.
Press the cartridge from the left into the frame, grease the left thread
cup and tighten it very firmly into the frame.
Crank installation: trickle some drops of corrosion inhibition oil (e.g.
WD40) on the square tapers of the axle. Attach the cranks, tighten them
with the good greased steel bolts (40 Nm) and ride short and hard.
Loosen the steel bolts (so that the grease can disperse again over the
thread), tighten them again and then replace them with the included
Titanium elongation bolts (min. 30 Nm, otherwise the advantages of
preload get lost).
Check the mobility of the spindle: new sealings turn very tight - no
cause for concern. Everything grinds in and stays impervious. If a
scraping noise crops up, a small drop of oil on the point of contact
between Nilos seal and the inner race of the bearings helps.
The steel bolts must be replaced by the Titanium bolts.
Otherwise the warranty claim expires!
Trouble-Shooting
Replacing the bearings
Tune offers you to replace the bearings at the factory. In this case, we
only charge the material costs. If you want to do the replacement by
yourself, proceed as follows:
Due to the push fit on the right side, the replacement is quite easy.
Please pay attention to apply some grease as additional sealing medium
between the bearings and the shell during the assembly of the unit.
Creaking cups
This problem mainly occurs, when the right cup has no collar/isn't
justified. If a ductile copper paste doesn't help, you'll have success
with some plies of teflon tape (piping accessory). Adducting the crank
fixing bolts helps (because of the spindle stiffening) only for a short
time.
Bovenstaande heb ik toegepast om het lager te installeren.
De linkercup heb ik zo ver vastgedraaid dat het lager net niet "vrij" loopt (een beetje voospanning).
Tijdens de installatie heb ik Ti-prep gebruikt voor de delen met schroefdraad en op plaatsen waar contact-corrosie kan voorkomen. De smering gebeurt met SKF lagervet op Lithium basis.
Ik hoop dat je hier een beetje verder mee komt.

Even uit nieuwsgierigheid: welke maat is het lager, wat is het frame/bracketmateriaal en wat is jouw lengte/gewicht?
Ben zelf 1,70m bij 64 kg. Het lager is 68 mm, de as 107 mm en het heeft een BSA draad. Eea gemonteerd in een stalen frame. Bij mij heb ik (nog) geen speling kunnen constateren.
Het zou kunnen dat een van bovenstaande factoren (of een combinatie hiervan) samen met de specifieke constructie van het trapaslager aanleiding geeft tot speling. Men geeft in de manual eigenlijk al toe dat dit voor kan komen.
Hou ons op de hoogte van de vorderingen.
Ps Voor de Admin: misschien is het een idee om de aangeleverde (verifieerbare) manuals etc. in een sticky plaatsen?

Tis een 68x113 as, frame aluminium, dus niet echt een vreemde combinatie ofzo. Als ik op m'n pedaal ga staan weegt dat zo'n 65 kilo...
Heb er nu een paar keer mee gefietst al, maar met de teflon tape ertussen blijft hij erg stil, hoor hem gewoon niet meer, denk dat die een werkende oplossing is! Nou nog kijken hoelang het blijft zitten, maar ga er vanuit dat het wel een tijdje werkt!
