The reinforced head tube with open-ended throat gusset and side plates will take the strain of the bigger forks you need for hammering the trails.

For 2005 we’ve redesigned the front end for a neater look and even more strength, and the dropouts are all new at the rear – now 9mm thick. In between we’ve held on to the massive down tube and box section chainstays for that super-stiff ride, but tweaked the seatstays for a touch more tyre clearance. The geometry is unchanged – not too fast with a short fork but not too slow with a long one, the emphasis is on responsiveness. Finishing touches include proper hose guides for your disc brake, ISCG tabs, routing for a front mech, and replaceable gear hanger.
