Canadian Street Riding Icon, Chris Donahue, signs with Evil Bikes.
Freeport, ME, USA - February 26, 2004 Evil Bikes, a New England-based bicycle company pioneering the street/park and versatile hardtail market with innovative frame designs, announces a two year frame sponsorship and product development agreement with professional street and trail rider Chris Donahue.
Chris Donahue has become an icon for the sport of mountain biking over the last several years. His laid back and friendly nature, in combination with his huge air tricks and technical riding prowess, have won him the nickname “Donahuge” and the friendship and respect of his peers.
Chris had this to say about his new deal:
"I"m totally fired up to be working with Evil Bikes for the next 2 years! For me, I knew it was the best way to go. I really like the bikes, but, most importantly I like the thoughts and view each of the owners and other team riders. I feel we"re really on the same page when it comes down to ideas and ideals for the industry as well as the immediate company. Good things are going to happen this year!"
In Dave Weagle words:
Dave Weagle, President and Technical Director for Evil Bikes wrote the following:
“We are really psyched to have Chris on our team and working with us. From the first time that Chris and I talked, I knew that we had to make this happen. Chris is a great guy, he really is the kind of person that I feel exemplifies our philosophies on riding and life. He’s a hard worker; he’s well spoken, a great role model, a loyal friend, and can ride the heck out of a bike! We’re all really excited to combine some of our technology with Chris’s riding input and meld the two into an incredible product line for 2005.”
EVIL BIKES:
Evil Bikes was formed by a group of riders and engineers in 2000 with the intent to design and build short-run, high end hardtail and full-suspension frames. With frame designs formed by revolutionary ergonomic and structural analysis and with tireless dedication of their customers, Evil has become known for industry leading concepts, innovation, quality, and support.
After two years of development, Evil Bikes introduced their revolutionary frame, the Imperial, in late 2001. After helping to define a new market segment, the Imperial is now considered by many to be the prototypical multi-use aggressive hardtail frame. Thousands of hours of ergonomic and FEA structural analysis have helped to propel the Imperial to near legendary status with riders. At Interbike 2003, Evil introduced their prototype 2013i integrated gearbox street hardtail and Sovereign air-hardened steel Street/Trail frame. For 2004, Evil has several big projects on the drawing boards that promise to up the ante once again. Stay tuned!
